Music Educator

Many of my orchestra and private bass students have performed with the Minnesota Youth Symphonies, the Greater Twin Cities Youth Symphonies, the Minnesota All-State Orchestra, and the MnSOTA Middle Level Honors Orchestra. I have worked with several students who are currently teaching and performing professionally.

In the past, I have been adjunct bass instructor at Hamline University, University of Wisconsin at River Falls and at St. Cloud State University as well Abingdon School and St. Edward's School in Oxford, England. I have experience teaching all ages, from 4 year old Suzuki students up to adults, including several adults who have switched from electric to upright bass.

I have a Master's Degree in Music Education from Northwestern University and I received my bachelor's degree in performance from the Eastman School of Music.  I also have a bachelor's degree in music education from St. Cloud State University and a Certificate of Advanced Orchestral Studies from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London.

Resources for Students

For my private studio and school orchestra students I have set up a Tuning Guide to help them tune their instrument and various Documents, such as scale fingering sheets and flash cards.

Scale & Arpeggio Recordings Available

There are  Scale & Arpeggio Recordings that correspond to my Scale & Arpeggio Music (see the Educational Documents page) that have helped many of my students play better in tune. Over the years, I have sold these recordings all around the world, including North & South America, Europe, and Asia. I have also made these files available for download at CD Baby (as well as digital distribution on iTunes, Spotify, and many more!).  There are two ways to purchase:
