Guide for Tuning String Instruments

These pages provide descriptions for how to tune violin, viola, cello and bass, and they use high quality audio recordings for reference pitch. Select file type & instrument from the menu below:

These pages contain high quality mp3 string sounds.
While they are not as easy to use as flash, they have the following benefits:
1) contains smaller files than Flash
2) usually work better with older web browsers
3) take less time to download with dial-up internet connections

Click on an instrument. After the page loads, click on the string(s) you want to hear:

These also contain high quality mp3 string sounds but require Flash Player.
Here are the lists of benefits and considerations:
1) Pages are easier to use than web pages with only mp3 sounds
2) They will take longer to load, especially if you have a dail-up internet connection.
3) They have the ability to play more than one note at a time.
